The UTS Games Studio proudly presents the 2022 Autumn Showcase where we will be showing off all the remarkable games from a variety of UTS subjects.
The students have been working incredibly hard and are keen to show you what they have all been working on this semester.
The idea behind this event is that you can spend as much time as you wish to browse through the different titles and play the games you like the most.
It's a self-paced and low-pressure setting for everyone to enjoy in their own time.
At the end of the night, there will be an award ceremony with prizes for the winning projects.
We hope you are as excited as we are, and we hope to see you there.

Obscurio is an animation that showcases a person’s journey and struggles to manage their mental health. This journey is often characterised by internal battles, isolation, and a realisation of inner strength. We hope this animation can metaphorically and visually convey the impact mental illnesses may have on a person’s thoughts, feelings and behaviours. Whilst the road to recovery maybe difficult by taking simple steps, though; being mindful, developing new skills by challenging oneself and connecting with others, this animation offers a message of hope to any person struggling with mental illnesses that they can improve their mental health and wellbeing.

I'm really interested in Dynamic Difficulty Adjustment (DDA) and this project has been used as a tool to facilitate my learning. Research has been conducted surrounding this topic, to be used as direct reference in the development of a gameplay prototype that features a DDA system as a core mechanic. This has then been play-tested by a range of people to prove that it functions as intended, and that I’ve learnt something!

Explore an infinitely generated cave system, fire orbs of light into the darkness, squeeze through tight spaces and collect the faintly glowing gems that line the cave walls. This project uses the marching cubes algorithm to turn simplex noise into an endless maze of large caverns. In this project we experimented with Three.js to see what we could create, learning about shaders, lighting, post-processing and procedural mesh generation along the way.
